As my devoted readers have undoubtedly noticed, Pine Tree Politics has been on virtual autopilot for most of the last several weeks. I haven’t had a chance to really dive into the minutia of Maine politics as I have become accustomed to doing, and have updated rather infrequently.
First of all, apologies to all of you who have grown accustomed to turning to us for your news, analysis and commentary about politics in the Pine Tree State.
But, if you’ll allow, an explanation.
I have been offered – and have accepted – a position at the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). For those of you unaware, the NRSC is a “hill committee“, and serves as the election arm for the Republican Party’s U.S. Senate Conference. In short, it is an organization that seeks to elect Republicans to the United States Senate.
After the rather historic snow storm this month, I had to play catch up. As soon as I played catch up, I went through the process of interviews and negotiations and decisions and notices, and well – everything that goes along with changing jobs. So, the typical time I had been able to devote to writing was taken up elsewhere. My first day at the NRSC is next Monday.
The good news? The fine folks at the NRSC are cool with the existence of Pine Tree Politics – so I will be able to continue to provide you with quality coverage of Maine politics for the foreseeable future, so long as I don’t embarrass myself, or cover the races I will be working on.
So, hopefully in the next couple of weeks, you will see PTP return to the type of coverage you have grown accustomed to, and the coverage that has made this site the top political blog in Maine.
In the meantime, thank you very much for continuing to stop by and check in, even through the thin times, and I hope to more than make it up to all of you in the near future.
And apologies in advance to my Democratic friends for the thrashing I will hopefully be giving you this November.
