Matt Gagnon is a Republican political operative, working primarily in Washington, D.C.  Currently, he serves as the Director of New Media Communications for United States Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).

At Collins’ Washington office, Matt is responsible for the new media presence of the Senator, managing blog outreach, web video, email, newsletters, social media platforms, the Senator’s website, mobile communications, and several other initiatives.

Originally hailing from Maine, Matt  previously owned the most widely read political blog in the state of Maine, Pine Tree Politics.  He won wide recognition for his writing skills and coverage of the Maine political scene from 2008 – 2010.

Matt is an avid photographer, writer, and lover of good food.  He lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Erin and their four year old son, Alec.

Matt has long had a strong interest in photography.  Growing up in Maine, there was a great deal of natural scenic beauty that provided inspiration to start snapping pictures.  He used to enjoy long afternoons looking for just the right vistas to capture.

Over the years, the interest has developed from a hobby into a one of his favorite leisure activities.  Now living in the nation’s capital, he has an opportunity to explore a more urban environment.  In the winter of 2009-2010, he was one of the more recognized photographers chronicling the Washington area’s historic blizzards.
